Kay Colbert is a licensed clinical social worker, Texas State Board # 52411, and New Mexico Board # SWB-2024-1034, specializing in substance abuse and addictive behaviors, mental health issues, trauma, anxiety and women's issues. Kay has a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work (DSW) from the University of Pennsylvania. Kay is a National Certified Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) through the NCC AP. Kay has extensive training in mindfulness meditation and mindfulness-based programming, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Attachment-Focused EMDR, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She strives to bring a fresh, energetic approach to the therapy process. What is EMDR?
Kay has participated in numerous professional trainings, including the Betty Ford Center, the Hazelden Foundation and also with Pia Melody. She is on the Board of the The Magdalen House, a nonprofit detox center in Dallas for women with alcoholism. She has a strong background in ADD, ADHD, OCD and Tourette's Syndrome and has extensive experience working with clients involved in the criminal justice system.
Kay sees adults only, (ages 21 – 65), individually and in group therapy. She has early morning or evening appointments to accommodate working clients. She does not participate in any insurance panels and charges $150 per 50-60 minute hour. Initial evaluation sessions may last an hour and a half and are $175 per session.
Kay lectures on mental health, addiction and mindfulness topics at local and national workshops and conferences.She has co-authored a book for clinicians, Engage the Group, Engage the Brain: 100 Experiential Activities for Addiction Treatment, published by Central Recovery Press.
